Our Story | City Bicycle Company // Fixed Gear & Single Speed Bicycles – City Bicycle Co.

The City Bicycle Company Story

City Bicycle Company began as a simple idea between two friends in the dormitories of the University of California Davis. Known as one of the most bicycle friendly towns in the world and home to the U.S bicycling hall of fame, the infectious bicycling culture of Davis became the basis for our modest bicycle garage repair shop in 2013. We truly believed in the utilitarian aspects of the bicycle, the absolute essential tool for those on the go.

We started by purchasing used bicycles of all varieties from auction shops all over Northern California and began repairing and refinishing them for sale to the Davis community. We also helped students with affordable repairs and would often have individuals from all walks of life come in and work on our bicycles together. We slowly became known around town as the bicycle repair guys and even had people from as far as the Bay Area come to our small garage to talk bicycling and have their own bicycles serviced. Our little garage where we lived and studied slowly became the meeting spot for cycling enthusiasts.

The Type One bicycle was developed with aerodynamics at the forefront of our design—our oversized frame tubing is an ode to the aggressive track bicycles time tested in the velodrome. The specific colorways of each bicycle are inspired by the famous bicycling cities across the world—San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Tokyo are just a few of our models which are built and customized as an ode to their namesake city. But we didn't stop there, as satisfaction for our Type One continues to rise, we began getting many request to create a higher performance aluminum bicycle. To satisfy the needs of our customers we we are extremely happy to introduce our lightweight 6061 all-aluminum Type Two model in 2014. Where our exploration ends, yours begins.
